Mica started her career in the fitness industry at the age of 16. She was an athlete growing up and group fitness was just another way to keep her moving. She fell in love with group fitness as a participant and then received her first certification so she could be an intern instructor. She quickly learned the amount of outside work and practice that went in to teaching classes but also learned that the reward was worth it. Making a positive impact on the lives of participants filled her heart with joy.
Mica continued teaching classes in college while she earned her degree in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She also became a certified Personal Trainer during this time. She was the youngest member of the Group Fitness team at the Fayetteville Athletic Club when she became the Group Fitness Manager in 2004. She is currently the Spa and Fitness Director at FAC, managing three club departments, over 80 employees, and a group fitness schedule of over 100 classes per week. She teaches about 5 classes per week on top of her other work so that she can stay connected to club members.
Barre entered Mica’s life about 6 months after having her son, Everett. Pregnancy was much harder than she ever expected and she found that her body did not bounce back like she thought it would after gaining 70 pounds. After she added Barre workouts to her routine she found herself having more controlled strength than ever before. It helped her find that passion for fitness that was put on the back burner for the first time in her life while pregnant and postpartum. She fell in love with the Barre Intensity method after taking the Barre Intensity Barre Anatomy Course to help further elevate her knowledge about the body and Barre exercises. Mica believes that to stay current in the fitness industry you always need to be learning and that you will never know it all. She additionally has certifications in Personal Training, Precision Cycling, BodyAttack, BodyCombat, BodyFlow, BodyPump, BodyStep, CXWORX, Smart Fitness Group Exercise, Barre Above, and Barre Intensity.
Intense in a word that is used to Mica’s teaching style and classes. So, becoming a Barre Intensity Master Trainer was the perfect fit.
