Angela Jahns

For Angie, physical fitness wasn’t always top priority. Angie’s life after high school consisted of intense schooling with the aim to earn her MS in Mathematics so she could teach mathematics to adults at a local community college. Angie attained her dream and in 2002, she graduated summa cum laude with an MS in Mathematics. Shortly after, she started teaching at North Idaho College in Coeur d’ Alene, ID, where she worked for 8 years. In 2011, Angie returned to Spokane to teach at Spokane Community College where currently she is a tenured full-time professor. It wasn’t until Angie married her husband in 2005 that Angie’s journey into fitness began. Both her and her husband took an interest in triathlons and running. It took a few years, but eventually Angie worked her way up to completing Ironman. Currently, Angie has completed 3 full Ironman triathlons, 12 half Ironman triathlons, 6 full marathons, numerous half-marathons, and 2 ultra-distances of 50k and 39 miles. In 2018, Angie heard about a great workout from a running friend called Barre. Since there was a Barre studio close to her house, she decided to try it out and instantly fell in love. In early 2019, her local studio was offering in house training for instructorship. Angie completed this training and earned her first certificate to teach Barre at her local studio. At the same time, she also completed her Barre Intensity training. Angie loves teaching Barre because of the joy it brings to her student’s lives. Teaching Barre felt extremely natural to Angie considering she has been teaching adults for nearly 20 years. A year after completing her Barre Intensity training, she sent in her test out video and is now Barre Intensity certified. Angela believes its never too late in life to start a new dream. One of her favorite quotes is, “In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take.”
