Sandi Anderson

The Yoga Barre, a boutique lifestyle studio that blends the practices of yoga and barre, was founded June 2017 through Sandi Anderson’s love and passion for health and fitness and helping others.

Sandi’s yoga journey began in 2010 when she attended her first class in hopes to heal previous injuries.   While her initial interest in attending a yoga class was very practical, Sandi was not expecting to fall in love with the practice as she did.   After months of consistent practice, she began to notice the amazing benefits of yoga to not only her body, but also her mind.   She became intrigued by the art and history of yoga and began to study the practice more and more leading to her decision to enroll in a 200 hour teacher training at River Rock Yoga with Moira Anderson and Laura Tyree.   Upon her enrollment in training, Sand had no plans to actually teach yoga.  Her motivation for going through training was simply for personal growth.  However, upon completion of the 200 hour training and becoming a Register Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, teaching yoga quickly entered her life.   Sandi teaches vinyasa yoga with a teaching style that combines a passion for form along with a desire for flow.

Sandi discovered barre in an effort to incorporate diversity into her fitness routine.   After much research and attending many barre classes throughout the U.S., Sandi found a barre method that she really connected with – Barre Intensity.   She quickly realized she wanted to attend Barre Intensity training and dive into the barre method and share her newfound passion with others.   She completed Barre Intensity training under master trainer, Stephanie Lyons, in March of 2017 and become a certified Barre Intensity instructor in June, 2017.

In addition to her yoga and Barre Intensity certifications, Sandi also holds a Zumba certification, which she obtained in October of 2013.

Sandi comes from a dance background beginning at the age of five.  Dance, cheer and gymnastics competitions were a big part of Sandi’s life, and her years of formal training have provided a strong foundation in her fitness journey.

In addition to her fitness certifications, Sandi holds a court reporting degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, was a Registered Professional Reporter with the National Court Reporters Association and Certified Court Reporter in Mississippi and worked in various courts throughout Mississippi.

Sandi is beyond grateful to have the opportunity to teach yoga and Barre Intensity and share her love and passion for both practices with others in the welcoming and nurturing environment she has created at The Yoga Barre.
